E&L Screening in Pharma Packaging and Product by GCMS

This webinar describes analytical methods used for screening of extractables and leachables (E&L) in pharmaceutical packaging and product. Extractables analysis was performed by Direct TD-GCMS, while leachables by liquid injection-GCMS. Identification was carried out using NIST 14 Library and Shimadzu Polymer Additives Library. Instead of time-consuming solvent extraction procedure, a simpler Direct Thermal Desorption technique is used to perform extraction of the extractable compounds from polymer packaging. The result of extractables is compared with leachables analysis result from the product contained in the packaging.
