With the uncovering of many food-related scandals such as Cd contamination in rice, the addition of melamine to milk, and adding cheap sweeteners to honey, we are concerned about both the quality and safety of foods,. It is thus important for manufacturers to have a system that can detect and identify contaminants in foods quickly and easily to maintain quality and reputation.
In this seminar, we would introduce Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Fluoroscopy (EDX) and Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FTIR) as techniques to perform inorganic and organic contaminant analysis that requires little sample preparation, is easy to use and can provide results quickly for various areas in the food industry.
