Shimadzu/Horiba Jointly Presents: Analytical Tools for Characterizing Nanoparticles

Available On-demand

Duration: 120 minutes

7:00 am — India, Sri Lanka
8:30 am — Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam
9:30 am — Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia (Perth)
11:30 am — Australia (Sydney, Melbourne)

Nanoparticle research has sparked great interest in its application, whether it is biomedical, chemical, or electronic uses. With a size of less than 100 nm dimension, nanoparticles exhibit unique properties that are different from their bulk counterparts. While these features make them useful for various applications, they can also complicate the characterization processes. There are a large number of analytical tools which can be used for nanoparticle characterization. In this seminar, we will be focusing on 3 solutions:  Spectroscopy, Particle Size Analysis, and Thermal Analysis. We are pleased to invite Mr. Lian Hock Chuan from Horiba as our guest speaker.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand Shimadzu Spectroscopy Solutions for Nanoparticle Characterization
  • Understand Shimadzu Thermal Analysis Solutions for Nanoparticle Characterization

Speakers

Mr. Lian Hock Chuan
Product Manager
Horiba Instruments (S) Pte Ltd

Mr Lian obtained his Bachelor and Master of Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore before joining Horiba Instruments (S) Pte Ltd in 1999. Working as an application engineer, he was tasked with providing application related support to customers in the Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand for analytical and environmental instrumentations. He is now the product manager for particle size analysis and elemental measurement products for the APAC region.

He is a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and a senior member of the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES).

Dr. Jackie
Assistant Product Manager (GC & GCMS)
Shimadzu Asia Pacific

After graduating from the National University of Singapore, Jackie has garnered over 8 years of research, training and facilitation experience. Jackie meets scientists from various industries to share technical knowledge and collect feedback, understanding their problems and helping them find well-suited solutions in GC-related analyses.

Mr. Lee Zhen Hao
Applications Chemist, Spectroscopy
Shimadzu Asia Pacific

Zhen Hao started working in Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) in 2016 and has been handling various analytical instruments such as UV-Vis, FTIR, TOC, AAS, SALD and RF.

For the past 5 years, he has delivered numerous spectroscopy training courses, provided application support for users from multiple industries as well as developed application notes for Shimadzu (Asia Pacific).

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
